Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) Description

We all need to vent sometimes. Sometimes you just need to smash something up. Sometimes you need to do it in crazy cartoony platformy style. Sometimes you need that thing to be one of your favourite video game icons. Enter, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo's follow-up to the much beloved Smash Bros. Melee. Super Smash Bros. Brawl features a host of other video gaming icons, including Mario, Pikatchu, Solid Snake of Metal Gear Solid fame, Meta Knight, the sword-wielding nemesis of Kirby; Pit, the angelic archer from Kid Icarus; Zero Suit Samus, the powerful Metroid series heroine minus her versatile armor; and SPOnG’s all-time favourite, Wario, who attacks with... well, Nintendo calls it “a noxious attack of gastronomic proportions”. You know what that means... In total, you're looking at 35 characters up for grabs, each with their own unique moves and tricks. Brawl comes complete with on-line functionality, which enables you to play against other gamers the world over, either in teams or on your lonesome. Also thrown in is 'spectator mode'. In short, if you can't quite be bothered to step up yourself or fancy gleaning a few pointers, you'll be able to treat Smash Bros. as your own personal goldfish bowl of violence! Throw in a level editor and a side scrolling single player story mode and you've got a nice, well rounded package of chaos. The opportunity to take Snake down with a big smelly Wario fart is the main reason why we're looking forward to playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Things like that make life worth living.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a great game that improves upon it's predecessors in just about every way imaginable. It is best enjoyed when with a group of friends, since there is nothing quite like setting your Pikachu on your best mates Yoshi and seeing your friends character come off worst... HAH! LOSER!! Yes, if you have 2 or more friends and Wii controllers, you need this game. It's good online, if a little laggy, but the room full of people is where it's at with this game. Nintendo have always done party games very well, and this is about the finest example of a party game that embraces one of the few "hardcore gamer" genres left in it's true form - fighting. The beauty of Brawl on the Wii is that it has that balance just right of skilled players being able to be deadly opponents, pulling off special move after special move, and then at the lower end, the inexperienced button bashers also punching above their weight. No one person will be that good at this game that they annihilate everybody, but you do get some skilled players that clearly win a few more than others, and it's the way Brawl balances fights that, even a brand new player has at least a good chance of toppling the skilled person. And when that happens, it's glorious. Brawl is honestly the loudest game I have ever played. Not for the sounds the developers put on the disc, but the hub-bub it will create in the house you're playing it in. There will be shouts and screams, swearing, arguments, accusations of cheating - not to mention controllers thrown in anger, joy, despair... Brawl makes your living room come alive if you have multiple players all going at it, and it really is hard to beat it. There is a single player experience, and this is all well and good, what you expect from a single player in a fighting game, but it is without a doubt the multiplayer where this game shines. This should take pride of place in any Wii owners game collection.

If you have the time in life to have a load of the lads round your house eating you out of house and home every weekend then this game is for you as i could see it being a real good laugh once youve got a competition going. vodka shots for the winner of each round who also stays on for the next challenger..obviously the longer you win the poorer you hand eye co-ordination due to the vodka...Great! Otherwise without all the lads round and the misses frowning at you from accross the room because you said you would cut the grass instead this weekend, this game lacks a lot of punch. as a single player experience it's just too well....boring i'm sorry to say. this is a game clearly built from the ground up for the league competitions with lots of people who really should be at home cutting the grass that weekend for their ma and pa. No real tactics im afraid it's just generally a button masher but with some cute details and nice added characters and little in jokes this game would be great for the kids aswell as the bigger kids, it just needs more people than i could fit in my house, to play it properly. I come from a xbox 360 background and before that was a firm follower of playstation and i think sometimes when playing nintendo games i tend to look for more depth than is actually there. But bearing in mind this game is a one trick pony, it's a very pretty, fast and generally fun little pony...just get lots of your pony mates round!!!

I cant say much more then this game is amazing, but i will. The stages and environments look amazing, the amount of customization in this game i amazing too, you can never play the same scenario twice as there is so much to do and to unlock. With friends this game cant be beaten. It sticks the same formula as the other games but improves on everything that was bad in the last game, including the addition of a fairly length single play adventure (which can even be played with a friend so your never on your own)Only thing is the internet play is somewhat laggy (but they are trying to fix that apparently) and the adventure can get abet samey, but it didn’t bother me. Superb game 10/10
