I enjoy sandbox games. Crackdown, AC2; anything. This game proves no different. Trapped in a swiftly infecting city, you play Alex Mercer, a human mysteriously found with infected powers, whilst remaining human. You are caught in the struggle between the ruthless military and the mindless infected, often finding yourself attacked by both at the same time. You must scour the city for people with knowledge of your situation and consume them, thereby taking their memories. Like all good sandbox games, this game is incredibly fun to just mess the hell about on. The upgrade system allow you to improve your gradually increasing arsenal of powers - powers being the ability to morph your arms into weapons, whether it be hammers to crush tanks with or whips to slash helicopters out of the sky. The fighting and gameplay is incredibly intense and fast-paced, allowing you to wreak almighty hell on the ground and then sprint up a tower block in no time at all to take the battle to the helicopters in the sky. The game is balanced and allows a healthy challenge without frustrating the player too much. The only downsides I see are the repetitive missions (consume missions in particular) and the difficulty of the achievements; 'Complete the game without dying'. WTF. However, these do not detract from the rental side of the game in any sense - it is a perfect game for rental. Graphics 2/5, sound 4/5, gameplay 4/5 story 2/5, overall game for rental 4/5

Well what can I say; apart from I was shocked… I did not expect anything awesome or outstanding from this game the only reason it was on my play list is because a friend suggested it to me as I am a fan of super hero comics and so on. Now with that said this game played and looked a lot like Spider Web Of Lies which is a shame. But the actually story and being able to hijack tanks, helicopters and change your power’s was what made this game so enjoyable, the running across roof tops to the almost invincible feeling you get going toe to toe with a tank ….sorry several tanks is kind of awesome, the game has some good points and some bad, it looks great and the controls are easy to pick up and your in the action from the start. Now the bad points, it gets drawn out a little in parts and sometimes feels like the same ting over and over again, The submission are fun but felt a little dated halfway into the game and it really is like Spiderman web of lies. With that said it is a fun and interesting game to play but I would suggest renting it before buying it. Hope you enjoyed the review and if you need help with any game related stuff give me a shout. Prototype or inFamous? That was a question on lots of our lips at the beginning of summer this year. Well, my own personal answer was this - Prototype. Taking the ever popular sandbox formula and adding a dark bloody twist to it, this is a visceral game that takes you on a brooding journey of revenge. I liked to think of it as God of War set it a modern city.... yes - that level of blood and violence and over the top kills is what you can expect from this game. Good as inFamous was, it didn't cater to my own personal gaming bloodthirst, so Prototype was the clear winner for me. There are sufficient character upgrades and progression to stop the blood letting from getting repetitive. The web of intrigue missions that have you take on someone elses persona to infiltrate areas or evade capture are all inspired, and the way you find these targets is equally as fun. You can find them as blips on your local radar as you approach an area they're near, and then you can either morph into a nobody, walk right up to them and then silently absorb them, or you can just go the no messing approach and chase them down and rip them to shreds before absorbing them. Nice. And lots of fun. You'll find plenty of side missions which are typical in their aim at capturing control and influence over different areas of the city, and with nicely varied aims keeping it mixed up, I never got bored. The constant upgrading of your character is also very pleasing, watching his powers gradually become monstrously strong, and with suitably increasingly difficult enemies to kill too, absorbing some of the powers and keeping you on your toes. You'll likely die a few times playing this, with no major detriment, and always feeling like it was because you sucked and the enemy were better, which is how it should be. Overall, I would very strongly recommend giving this game a try. It was my favourite over inFamous which was also an awesome sandbox game.

Great premise, although it does wear thin in places. - Worth a rent. You play Alex Mercer, a young male protagonist with comic book-esque powers including the ability to run up walls, turn your arm into a deadly blade and fly through the air with blood spurting from your wrists like you're a flying squirrel with awkward hair over one eye and a love of My Chemical Romance. As with many sandbox games (i'm looking at you Assassin's Creed) it is arguably more fun to mess around outside the parameters of missions and quests; particularly as the quests are all very similar in Prototype. There are two main approaches to every mission: 1) Kill everything 2) Assimilate the body of a military soldier, and KILL EVERYTHING...but without being harassed by helicopters. And here lies the problem, there isn't very much variation in the main storyline and much of the free running exploration is underplayed. Furthermore, the story is rubbish. The plot is convoluted, clichéd and close to inconsequential; with Alex suffering from, I kid you not, amnesia and the main thrust of the narrative being, I kid you not, government super weapons. Overall, the interesting premise and surprisingly fun abilities make up for the lacklustre missions and weak story telling...although only just as it could be condemned for the inclusion of collectables (surely we are past this now?) and a schizophrenically difficult Hard mode were they not completely avoidable.
