The Eye of Judgment (PS3) Description

The Eye of Judgment sees the dawn of a new way to interact with the PlayStation 3 system as an innovative game for the world of card games. Using the immense power of PlayStation 3, and the ground-breaking technology of the next generation camera, players can now enjoy a totally new genre in gaming. The Eye of Judgment presents a new style of gameplay where the player brings characters/monsters of fantasy trading cards to life for battle in 3D. Through use of a 3’ x 3’ board and trading cards - each encrypted with “cybercode”, players conquer the field by selecting a card and placing the “cybercode” in front of the next generation camera for their respective character to come to life and battle. Each character has various skillsets, which will determine the outcome of the battle. Players take turns to place cards as they jostle for control of the board; the winner is the first player to capture five of the nine squares. The Eye of Judgment presents the player with more than 30 cards, as well as unique online and offline gameplay.

This game was cheap on Shopto so I thought why not? Well I have to stop thinking that because it never gets me a decent game. Each side has a 3x3 grid and you place cards down on the mat for the camera to read and then stuff happens on the screen. Sounds good if you like card games, however a lot of the time the camera doesnt read it, and due to the fact it reads it, then does the action it makes the game VERY VERY slow. Either make it a card game, or a computer game where you use cards but dont mix it as this game proves that it doesnt work. Sluggish and boring.

You have never played a game quite like The Eye of Judgment. If you rent this game you'll need to have a Playstation Eye (not an eyetoy) and some cards for this game (which you can find online to download for free, make sure you use SET1, as SET2 and 3 have to be bought online) Once you have the cards and the eye set up, you create a deck by scanning your cards under the eye. It's quick and looks great when you've got the card up there. You basically have a 3x3 grid which consists of different terrain, then you summon monsters onto the terrain and cast spells. Once you have 5 out of 9 of the grid filled with your monsters you've won. However, terrain effects your monsters differently, so if you put a fire monster on a fire terrain you get bonus effects, but if you put it on water you loose health for that monster. The game is best played on one system with a friend, you can play online, but it's more fun with a friend in the same room as you. This is a great game as usually when playing card games you can loose track of how many cards you're supposed to have and how many hit points your monsters currently have, but the EOJ does all this for you. Unfortunatly this game is out of print now, it was great back in the day and you'll still find people online playing this.
