Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3) Description

Uncharted is the kind of shooting, adventuring and puzzle solving game that we are used to seeing on each iteration of the PlayStation. It's just that we're used to seeing these games starring Lara Croft. With no Tomb Raider game in the release schedules for the PS3's first UK Christmas, Sony decided to make their own replacement. Instead of the statuesque Ms Croft, the hero of this game is Nathan Drake, and he's in search of a fortune in gold left by his many times great grandfather, Sir Francis Drake. In order to get the gold, Nathan and his helpful assistant, Elena Fisher have to travel through a selection of locations, fighting the criminals who are on their heels every step of the way. There's a huge selection of weapons on hand to fight the baddies with, and your character can carry one handgun and one rifle or shotgun at any time. Keep an eye on your ammunition, and if you're running low, try and get close to the one of your fallen opponents, and take his ammo or weapon. Uncharted features an excellent storyline, with beautifully animated cut-scenes, which mix pre-rendered and game engine graphics, seamlessly woven into the gameplay. Playing as Nathan, you must climb onto ledges, shimmy up vines and ropes, and run around castles, dungeons, cathedrals, labyrinths and other beautifully designed levels, stopping occasionally to solve puzzles. There are also levels which involve using a grenade launcher from the back of a moving vehicle, a jeep in one level and a jet-ski in others. and The game's fun and addictive, and the closing levels reveal a chilling secret about the golden statue that Nathan and the bad guys have been chasing all game long.

Amazing just amazing and it's hard to comprehend this game is 2 years old and one of the first games for the console. The graphics are just amazing, the story is from all of the games i have played the best and also the best told. You really feel involved in what is going on and it has raised the bar for all action/adventure games. My only problem is that maybe it could have been longer because it is not short but it was just so good. Also it has a good mix of different gameplay in it so it does not becoe boring. Graphics:97/100 brilliant will be very hard to beat sound:95/100 sounds great and the voice acting is fantastic gameplay:90/100 exellent gameplay but some aspects could have been improved and have a bit more to them lifespan:85 this lets it down its not a long game but it does have trophies if yuo like to collect them and it has got good replay value if you like to collect everthing in a game

This game was hyped up as the best game on the ps3 by all of my mates and most of the media, but by the time I got round to playing it, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune just seemed stale. Its shooting is average, the puzzles are poor and the storyline is pretty pants. As expected the graphics are still very easy on the eye, but that doesnt save it from being an average game on a console that needs better. Hopefully the second one is better, and from what I have seen, it looks way better.

What an adventure!!! If you like escapism, this is a great little jaunt. It's got all the fun of a good Tomb Raider game and a plot straight out of a summer blockbuster. The story itself is a great, you're on a treasure hunt and piece together the clues as you go along. The locations are vast and interesting, and graphically this is one of the best games on the PS3. The combat is well done, and you have a cover system and unlike Lara Croft, your hero in this game has a Call of Duty style health system, so if you're taking a beating, keep hidden for a while and your health will come back. The puzzles in this game are pretty straight forward which is fine for me as I hate playing a game which ticks all the boxes, just to get stuck halfway through and getting frustrated. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is a masterpiece and should be played by anyone who likes Mysteries and treaure hunts. This is one of those films that when you play it, you're thinking, "this should be a film, or tv series" as you get so attached to the characters and the narrative. Excellent.

I`m not going to waffle on to much, especially as most of what I wanted to say, has already been said in the other positive player reviews. Basically, if you like or loved tomb raider, even if you didnt, rent or buy this game, great story, sense of humour, good graphics (you really need HD), extremely fun if sometimes hard game to play (some platform / jumping bits can be tricky). You really need to play this before the sequel comes out, its now got trophies as well, very challenging they are. If you need a great mix of action, platofrm and humour then stop reading this and add this game to your list right now !!

This is a truly great game, and when it came out was head and shoulders above anything else. I cannot wait for the next instalment seeing what they produced when the ps3 was in it's infancy and they were still learning how to program the ps3 to it's full potential.
