Assassin's Creed (PS3) Description

The company that brought us Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is getting ready to launch their next big franchise, and it's promising some pretty juicy stuff. It's still early days with a probable 2007 release, but everyone's been salivating over Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed since E3 2006 and judging by what's been seen so far, this bad boy'll probably be the toast of 2007. The game centres around Altair, an assassin (in case you hadn't worked that one out) in the 13th Century Middle East who, along with his fellow assassins, is trying to end the Crusades by suppressing both sides. The action is spread across three medieval cities where Altair must climb, jump and ultimately kill his way through missions against the backdrop of a stunningly animated and rendered ancient metropolis. Judging from early peeks, the beauty of this game really is in the details. The cities allow absolute freedom of movement in the mode of GTA, with careful attention given to the tiniest of details to produce some of the most realistic graphics ever seen. The movement and look of each character (and when we say character, we mean "person to appear on screen") has been carefully modelled to emulate real human motion, with the AI prompting them to constantly react to you in a realistic way. As you move through crowds, you have to be careful not to draw attention to yourself, as anything untoward can bring the guards down on you in a heartbeat. That's not to say, however, that this is strictly a stealth game. If you fancy your chances at fighting your way through a posse of bodyguards to your target, you can. Just don't be surprised if a couple of well-placed blows brings you down. This is looking like the start of a huge new franchise, with a seam of intrigue threading its way through each game. Keep your eye on this. Seriously.

I think I actually rated this one a star too high - it's more like a 7/10 which I should have done as 3 stars. Any-hoo - Assassin's Creed IS a good game. Very good in some places. The graphics are nothing short of breathtaking, and the fluid animation of Altair as he jumps from place to place and works his way through crowds is genuinely commendable. There are some moments where I found I got lost or stuck on the next place to go, but I figured it out eventually. The combat system in it is done fairly well. It certainly looks good, but it does feel a little too unnaturally easy, with just one enemy at a time coming at you. Some may feel it gets boring here as it's not much of a challenge, but personally I enjoyed it overall. You will find lots of different areas to explore - historical recreations of Damascus and Jerusalem among them. There are lots of high places to scale and objects to collect to keep you enjoying the rooftop mechanics, and as you work through the game, the cities expand until you can visit all areas and will find a lot of little nooks and crannies to explore to find all the hidden items. There are also plenty of side missions in each city, so completists wanting more than just the story will find lots extra to do. The story itself is quite engaging, as you flit from your modern self into your past as Altair, you will unfurl an intriguing mystery. Overall, I wouldn't rate it 8 or 9 because as good as it was, it did get samey in some places. I think it was just over-hype too, probably. It's a great game that you should definitely give a try, and with the upcoming sequel, all the more reason to play the first one if you haven't yet.

When i first played this game i thought it was absolutely amazing but after a couple of hours of gameplay it just feels so repetitive. This is because it is the same mission structure over and over again. But it still is a very enjoyable game because it looks so good and its visual representation of the citys are amazing and it has some very good ideas like the way you sneak through crowds and climb/free run. Graphics:94/100 Brilliant glitchy at some moments but the citys look great Sound:81/100 it's a good sounding game like the sounds of for footsteps etc but what lets the audio down is the repetitive things people say within it gameplay:51/100 very repetitive but still had some good ideas in it but it is also very slow at many times lifespan:73/100 decent legnth but not much replay value

I played this game at a friends house and thought that it was an awesome game so i went out and bought it. After playing this game for about an hour i loved but after 3 hours i was bored stiff. The games graphics are awesme but the story is so confusing and u basically do the samething over and over again. I really do hope that Assassin's Creed 2 will be a BIG improvment

one of the best looking games on any console and a really unique experience. Although the in game tasks are very repetitive, they are such a joy to do you don't realise that the game has you doing the same thing over and over again. more variety would have been nice but Assassin's Creed is unrivaled in the area of free roaming action games and will stay that way until the 2nd installment is released. Action, excitement and stealth, the game has it all. If you haven't experienced Assassin's Creed yet then i highly suggest putting it at the top of your play list. A real gem of a game.
