Lair (PS3) Description

Factor 5 has brought air-based combat to the PlayStation 3. If the phrase 'air-based combat' sounds a bit odd, it's because we can't say 'space combat' or 'Top Gun-alike'. Nope, Factor 5 has broken from tradition. Here be dragons! Factor 5 has something of a pedigree when it comes to flight and fighting. It has worked on, among other things, the Star Wars Rogue Squadron series. Now it's trying its luck at the other end of the escapist spectrum. The world of Lair is not a pretty place. Ravaged by conflict and natural disaster, war is upon the Asylian civilisation once again. Players will need to mount their reptilian winged steed, bred especially for combat both in the skies and on land, and set about saving civilisation. Lair makes full use of the SixAxis' motion sensitive control system, so you'll be diving, swinging 180 degree turns and attacking, all with a wave of your hand(s). Of course, the best/worst/scariest thing about Lair is the monsters. Well, to be more specific, you'll have to fight one particular monster that's a mile long. What does a beast like that eat!?

Lair promised the world and left me turning off my ps3 and booting up my 360 for a decent game. It's a great premise, you're a dragon rider, in the middle of a huge battle, frying everything in your path. It's not the first game of it's type, but it seemed to have a Lord of the Rings feel to it. So I thought I'd check it out. If the controls were analogue, then this might make the game playable. But the fact it's all motion controlled... makes it unplayable!! If I wanted to waggle about, I'd play on the Wii. The motion controls on PS3 games are shocking, the only game it works in in my opinion is inFAMOUS when you get the storm power. You will play this for 5 minutes then send it back or be tempted to destroy the game so that no one else suffers the pain of it.

Played for about 5 mins before turning off. Very poor game no thought gone into making it. Thought son would have fun playing due to six axis controlls but he was as unimpressed as i was. DO NOT RENT AND DO NOT BUY.

Having launched the game played for under 5mins - this adventure failed to capture my imagination - neither did the graphics nor the poor story line and the fuzzy arrow in the top right corner that indicates - (badly) where the objectives are located. Sixaxis motion control very off putting tho motion control in a game can be useful - here not one bit. Get another game and avoid this one.
