Heavenly Sword (PS3) Description

A sexy redhead, a big sword that developer Ninja Theory describes as 'Heavenly', father issues... has anyone seen Sigmund Freud? For the uninitiated (and if you've come through Sony's barrage of hype and remained unintiated - congratulations) you play Nariko, the aforementioned sexy redhead. Nariko is in the unfortunate position of having inherited her dad's job as leader of her clan. Sounds quite cushty, we know. But it's not. We all like sexy redheads, but playing one who just sits around in the lap of luxury all day wouldn't be much of a lark, would it? The problem is that Nariko's tribe is on the run from King Bohan, a nasty sort who's out to conquer Nariko's land and capture the super-powerful Heavenly Sword for himself. As you've probably guessed, its your job to guide Nariko in her quest to save her father, protect the Heavenly Sword and cheat her destiny – hacking, slashing and groinmashing her way through hordes of enemy soldiers and bosses along the way. Players will alternate between the traditional beat-'em-up gameplay offered by Nariko and the stealthier, creepier Kai, who uses her crossbow and a motion-sensitive aftertouch mechanic to do wrong to her enemies. The game takes players through lavishly rendered backdrops that boast some of the most stunning next-gen graphics seen. Ninja Theory has gone to great pains to make the story itself immersive and involving, recruiting the likes of Andy Serkis (Gollum in Lord of the Rings) and Stephen Berkoff to see to the motion capture and acting. If you want something to sit alongside MotorStorm as a title to show off your buxom PS3, this is probably for you.

Was a release title and is an excellent one at that. The graphics and gamplay are amazing. The game runs very smoothly and after a bit of practice you can easily pull of some amazing combos with ease. Its a good action adventure game with a mix of fighting a few puzzles and some cool bosses to get through. You actually get to use the six axis motion controls as well adding a little more depth to the game and keeping the game play fresh. There like mini games where you have to use a sniper etc. The game can easily feel epic when you are fighting over hundreds of enemies at once and you have all the awesome moves at your disposal. Overall excellent game the only the thing that holds this game back for some is the length. It is quite short overall roughly about 7 hours to complete. Which might be short for some but perfect for a rent. The game is excellent for a rent but a purchase might leave you short handed.

This was one of my first ps3 games and why it looks amazing, Heavenly Sword is just an average beat em up with poor sixasis controls and very unlikable charactors. Heavenly Sword is below average on all accounts. (Apart from graphics which as a leading ps3 game are to be expected) Want a good beat em up? Get the God of Wars and wait in anticipation for the 3rd!

This game I found was amazing, I am new to the playstation 3 and wanted to try the exclusive games, very fast game but it isnt just button bashing you actually need skill and style with this. Storyline is very well put together with great voice acting. Graphics were top notch with no slow down, I wont ruin anything but.... one fight there are 1000's of people on the screen and it ran very smoothly which i found was incredible. People say this game is short, but because it is slightly repetitive I found it was a good length so it didnt get boring. Not worth a buy just rent it. I completed it in about 8 hours 4 sets of 2 hours I found was the best way to do it.

An all round great title, fun, thrilling and great story line, the game does well during serious parts and also adds a drop of comedy, yes it is short but very fun, deffinatly worth the rent!

As a PS3 release title, this is great. Looks stunning, plays well and is engrossing. It's length is it's downfall but i'd rather have 6-8 hours of smooth, well written,. well executed fun as opposed to 14-18 hours of what is largely filler. For me, the story was the best part of this game. Special mention going to Andy Serkis (Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy amongst others) providing motion capture and voice talent adding a realistic character who's funny at times to boot! Definitly rent it, even though it's been around for some time don't cast it off as a poor release title.
