Firstly, this game would have been much better for me if the actual instruction booklet would have been supplied with the rental.... For this game, you definately need to have at least some basic background knowledge of American Football. For example, the instructions given in the in-game tutorials mention certain moves, and whilst the game does teach how to use the controls to perform these moves, there is no mention of what the moves are for, or when to use them. I feel I would have possibly understood the game much better with explanations provided by the instruction booklet - I'll never know.! The game puts to use the very meaning of the WiiMote & NunChuk, in that you are able to use the controls in every direction, and feel as though you are actually involved in the game. You actually want to throw the WiiMote like a ball. The moves associated with each control movement seem logical (ie, sidestepping by flicking the NunChuk in that direction - left - right, etc.) Music within the game is quite tunefull, and not boring. The beefy sounds are not repeated 1 million times, and are quite fitting for the style of game. The graphics are detailed, and while PS2 like, I couldn't possibly comment any further as I feel the game should be played to the death (or the end of it) to be able to give it a fair comment. the characters do appear to have life-like movements, in that they don't seem to act like stiff robots, and they look quite fluid in their movements. Provided that the player is already familiar with American Football, its associated terminoligy, and technical particulars, the game would seem to be quite good. However, I've not actually got so far into the game as to play it, due to the need for learning about the points previously mentioned. Effectively, the game needs a lot of time spent on it, learning and practicing, to be able to play it. I wouldn't expect anyone to be able to just pick it up and play. In essence, the concept of the game is very good. However, this is another sports game which has been done before, perhaps not in this format, but still, there are Rugby equivalents as an example. This game seems great in concept because great thought has been put into the use of the WiiMotes, therefore... great concept. If the Wii had been going for 3 years, and this game came out then, the concept would probably be average, because players would be used to the WiiMotes by then. Using SwapGame's rating method, I'd like to introduce some further ratings... I'd give this game: a 1 (lowest) for 'PICK UP AND PLAYABILITY' a 4 for graphics (excellent PS2 style) a 5 for music (plenty of beefy popular tunes) a 4 for complexity (because the game does seem quite detailed) a 5 for concept (excellent use of WiiMote & NunChuk) PS, can't wait for a PROPER FOOTBALL game to come out.!
