Capcom Classics Collection (PS2) Description

We love Capcom. Mostly, we must say, for its Street Fighter series, but also for its other, equally popular creations – Arthur, or Maximo, or whatever he’s called these days, Megaman and Dante. Not to mention the Resident Evil series. The company has a rich past, and it’s only right that they bring a selection of classics to current gen consoles, just as Midway, Taito and Namco have done. And lordy lord, if it isn’t one of the most mouth-watering of such retrospectives we’ve yet to see. It really is magnificent, and doesn’t mess around either with the inclusion of no less than 22 titles. They’ve thoughtfully included Street Fighter II, not only the original, but also Hyper Fighting and Champion Edition. And if that’s still not enough ruckus for you, you can take on the wicked Mad Gear gang in Final Fight, and not just the pared down console conversions, the proper arcade one with all three characters playable. Reason enough already, we hear you cry, but there’s yet more, with the coin-gobbling burger bar favourites, WWII shooters 1942, 1943 and 1943 Kai loop-the-looping into action. Still need convincing? Well what if we tell you that you also get Famicom classic Sonson, robotic grapple hook shooter Bionic Commando and overhead view shooters Gun Smoke and Commando? And then add that the line-up even features Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins, Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts and Super Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts? Is that enough, you greedy beasts? There’s still more, with Capcom’s first game ever, Vulgus, chucked in, along with classics Pirate Ship Higemaru and Forgotten Worlds. Exed Exes, Mercs, Section Z, Legendary Wings and Trojan complete the collection. Top stuff, we don’t mind saying it’s the best thing that’s happened to us since Sonic Mega Collection. Maybe even better than that!

If ever a game was perfect for renting - this is possibly it. 22 games - not all of them classics but all worth a blast. Final fight, ghouls and ghosts and street fighter 2 all on one disc. When it sounds this good why rent it, maybe I should buy this now? These games all sounds so great and once you play them you'll be instantly rekindled with some true gaming gems, however after a few hours on these and a few minutes on some of the poorer games you'll realise that you'd rather get back to something more curent gen, hence the rental!
