Acceptable Condition Guidelines

Please make sure that your games adhere to our acceptable condition guidelines set out below. This will ensure you are credited for your trade-ins and there is no delay in processing your order.

If the games you submit for trade in do not meet the criteria given below we will unfortunately be unable to accept the item and you will receive no credit for the item. You will also be required to pay a return postage fee of £1.99 per item for us to return your game to you.

We can only currently accept trade in orders from the UK.

  • All games discs must be in good condition and in full working order.
  • The disc(s) must be in the original case and it must be the correct disc(s) for the case.
  • All the original packaging must be present, including the games manual.
  • The disc must NOT be a copy or a pirate disc – we take this matter very seriously and reserve the right to take further action on this matter.
  • The disc must NOT be cracked or have dents, deep scratches or other serious damage to it – light surface scratches are usually accepted.
  • The packaging and cases must be in good condition. Cases may have light scratches but games manuals must be free from stickers, tears and other blemishes.
  • We will charge 50p per Game if the disc requires further cleaning or if the case is broken and needs replacing.
  • We can only accept UK PAL video games and Region 2 PS3 games.

Remember you must always include: The games disc, games manual, original games box.

Please remember that the games you trade in are offered to others to play so please only trade in games you would be happy to accept yourself.

Tips for Posting

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to trade-in your unwanted games so we pay your postage.

When you checkout your trade-in games we will provide you with a free postage label. Simply stick this to the centre of your parcel and send us your games.

Option 1 - Post Box (Easiest)

Simply post your trade-in games through your nearest post box.

Please take your parcel to your local post office and obtain a proof of postage receipt.

Please take your parcel to your local post office and send via 'Recorded Signed-for' or 'Special Delivery'.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept responsibility for non-delivery of games and therefore recommend that you choose a posting option which best safeguards your game(s) from loss or damage in transit.

Trading In & Selling your games to us for CASH is easy

Just follow these simple steps...

  • Step 1

    1. Enter the game name or barcode

    Type in the name or barcode of each game you wish to sell to us and we will give you the very best price based on the current market value.

    You can enter a minimum of 1 and as many games as you like in a single transaction. When you have finished simply click on the checkout button. If you haven't registered as a user before, you will be asked to register. Registration is FREE.

  • Step 2

    2. Print out your FREEPOST labels and Packing Slip

    If you have a printer, you can print out a freepost label to attach to your parcel and send us your games for free. Please also print out your packing slip and put this inside your parcel. If you don't have a printer, we'll give you our address and trade-in number to write onto the outside of your parcel so you can post it to us.

  • Step 3

    3. Pack & Post your Games

    Pack your games into a suitable envelope or box and attach your FREEPOST label to the outside of your package.

    Please note it is very important to pack your items into one parcel so we can process your games and send your payment as quickly as possible. You may wish to obtain a proof of postage from the post office for large deliveries. Tips for Posting

  • Step 4

    4. Receive your cheque

    Once we have accepted and processed your games, we will send you a cheque in the post, normally within 7 days from receipt. So sit back and wait for your cash to arrive.

Terms and Conditions

Valuations

  • The value you are offered through the website at the time of use is the amount you will be credited if the games received meet our terms and conditions and we accept your trade in order.
  • All trade-in valuations will be held for a period of 10 days. Packages which are received after 10 days from the creation date may be cancelled at the discretion of SwapGame.
  • Games sent to us must play perfectly, with no obvious signs of damage. In the event of a disc being sent to us that requires cleaning or refurbishment, or a games case not being structurally sound, we reserve the right to charge a 50p fee per game to cover these costs.
  • All Games sent in must be UK PAL video games and Region 2 PS3 games.
  • All games must include the original cases, original covers and games manuals, and all pertinent discs. Where these are not included SwapGame will recycle the disc free of charge and no credit will be awarded to the customer. This decision is at the company's sole discretion.
  • Property in the discs submitted for trade-in will pass to SwapGame at the time of receipt of the discs, after which time SwapGame will be free to deal with the discs as it sees fit.

Registering a trade-in account

  • The trade-in service is to be used by customers only. It is not to be used by commercial traders.
  • Only one account per household is permitted. Users who attempt to register more than one account per household are in breach of these terms and conditions.
  • SwapGame reserves the right to reject all games if it suspects customers are using the trade-in service to commercially trade-in games with the company.
  • The company may choose to return games to a user who has breached these terms and conditions at its sole discretion.

Credits to Customers Accounts

  • On accepting your trade-in order you will be notified by email and the credit will be applied to your SwapGame account.
  • Credits are only confirmed once your trade-in order has been accepted and processed by SwapGame.
  • All credits to a customer's account can be redeemed against new purchase orders at www.swapgame.com. Alternatively credits can be withdrawn from your SwapGame Account as a cash payment. There is a 0.78p charge to withdraw cash. This charge covers the cost of processing and sending a cheque to you in the post.
  • Credit values for trade-in games offered on the website will change from time to time. If you trade in a disc we will offer the credit value shown at the time and date of trade.
  • All valuations include VAT at current rate.

Rejected Trade-In Orders

  • Games which do not meet our Acceptable Guidelines will be rejected. If a trade-in is rejected you will be notified by email with a reason for the rejection.
  • No credit will be awarded to the customer's account for any trade-in game which is rejected.
  • If a trade-in is rejected, the customer may request for the game to be returned. A postal charge of £0.72 per item is required to cover the cost of postage back to the customer. An additional charge of 0.76p is also required to ensure your games are returned to you via recorded delivery.
  • The company may choose to return rejected trade-in games to the customer. Standard Royal Mail second class post will be used. The company takes no responsibility for any games which are posted back to the customer in good faith but are failed to be received. 
  • All rejected games will be held for a 30 day period. The customer must contact the company within 30 days of being notified their game has been rejected to arrange for its return.

Postal damage and loss

  • SwapGame does not take any responsibility for the loss or damage to discs before receipt at our warehouse.
  • We strongly recommend that customers pack their discs using suitable packaging to minimise the risk of damage. SwapGame provides a free 1st class postage label to the customer. Additional postage cover is available from the Royal Mail at the customer's discretion. We recommend all customers obtain a proof of postage. If your disc is lost in the post we advise you on the best way to make a claim against the Royal Mail but we cannot guarantee that this will be successful, nor do we take any responsibility for the non delivery. Please see our trade in faqs above for more detail on this.
  • Please note it is very important to pack all your items in one parcel (or as few parcels as possible for large sales) so we can process your order and credit your account as quickly as possible.

Cheque Payments and Transaction times

  •  SwapGame will post a cheque to the customer within 7 working days from the date the customer requested to withdraw their credit as cash on our website.
  • All cheques are sent by Royal Mail 2nd class post and can take up to 5 working days to arrive from the date of posting.
  • If the customer does not receive their cheque within this time, SwapGame is required to wait 15 working days from the date of posting before issuing a new cheque to be sent out. This is to comply with Royal Mail guidelines which allows them 15 working days to deliver an item before it is deemed as missing in the post.
