Iridion 3D Description

Iridion 3D for the Game Boy Advance is a high action portable 'blastfest'. If arcade style shooters are responsible for your misspent youth then Iridion 3D is designed for you. The Earth is in grave danger, you are the only hope. Yeah, yeah let's shoot some bad guys. Your mission is to travel across light years of unchartered space, destroying the alien invasion force. For one reason or another, you are the only hope of stopping the Iridion threat. Then again, who needs help when you've got so much skill? Graphically speaking, Iridion 3D is a very impressive Advance title. Although, it is not a true 3D game, the effect is convincing. You fly into the screen in a Space Harrier-type fashion as the background constantly updates itself. This approach does have its downside: unless you position the GBA screen correctly, it is very easy to miss incoming enemies and their weapons. The gameplay is simplistic, but then again most shooters are action-orientated and require little thought. It's you or them, kill or be killed. The longer you stay alive the more power-ups you can acquire which will increase your destructive capabilities. With seven gigantic stages, difficult bosses and a limited number of 'continues' available, Iridion 3D is a challenging game, perfect for long journeys and sunny days. Easily one of the better shoot-em-ups for Nintendo's new handheld.
