| When God Of War came out it changed 3rd person action adventures, a slew of "clones" came along, most of them mediocre. Now, Viking : Battle for Asgard at first seems like one of these games, trying to grab your attention with combo's and gruesome finishing moves, however Viking has an advantage, and that is the large battles at the end of the chapters. You go round freeing imprisoned vikings, and liberating key strategical points on the island you are currently on, once you have gotten a large enough army and summoned a dragon, you goto liberate the large city on the island. What follows is a large battle with vikings fighting the undead miscreants of Hel's army, and you having to kill Shamans and Giants, and then either facing off with the big bad or protecting your shaman till she has destroyed the portal enabling the evil to come through. PLUS BRIAN BLESSED DOES SOME VOICE WORK, what more could u want? Worth a rent, it's got a good 16+ hours gameplay in it and is a fun romp, if u like a game thats somewhere inbetween God of War and dynasty warriors, then get this! | ||

| Very reminiscent of Fable but for a mature audience hence the dismemberment and decapitation. It has more depth that seems initially available... you have to raise an army by completing missions/objectives, optional side quests and lead them into battle, gaining new power and abilities along the way in the stereotypical RPG fashion. You play a hulking "steroids-for-breakfast" Conan the Barbarian stylized character of below average intelligence and basically only do things because you told to. The visuals are up to standard and I did not witness any gameplay bugs, the environment is seamlessly rendered.. no load screens here. Gameplay is fast and action is in real-time with you cracking out combos and dodging large amounts of enemy blows from all directions. Sounds as good as it should with the exception of a few voice actors. voice overs are sometimes done well... but then there are a few that only seem to be there to irritate you. I feel this game will be in the list "under-rated games of the year". It's not ground breaking, its not awe inspiring, its not even breath taking but it's still a good game with a fair amount to offer... you've got nothing to loose give it a go. | ||
