Bioshock Description

Bioshock begins as your plane plummets into icy and uncharted waters and you are forced to enter a lighthouse oddly located in the middle of the ocean. Discovering a primitive diving bell inside the structure, you board it and travel to the bottom of the ocean and into the haunting world of 'The Rapture'. You discover that 'The Rapture' was once a utopian society created shortly after The Second World war for only the best scientists, doctors and artists but has been ravaged after a war over 'Adam', a genetic enhancement that gives people almost superhuman powers. Arriving after the great genetic war, the player finds the civilisation battered and blood-soaked, home only to those humans who were mutated beyond imagination by the very weapons they used in their great war. As the player proceeds through the dark and violent society, they will encounter many of the mutated beings left over from the conflict, from small girls who feed off the dead to create 'Adam', to the 'Big daddies'- huge biomechanical creatures armed with deadly weapons. The player will pass through the underwater buildings and harness 'Adam' to mutate themselves like the residents of 'The Rapture' to gain control of new weapons ranging from telekinesis to the ability to produce fire from your hands. 'The Rapture' itself is rusting and decaying, creating a city of fear without light, smeared with blood and filled the screams of its former citizens. As the game progresses, the player must employ new tactics to defeat some of the more heavily armoured members of the nightmarish underwater colony. The 'Big daddies' will not go down easily and you will have to take advantage of your environment as well as your mutations to finish them off once and for all. You will be met with the most important of choices: save the civilisation or exploit them to allow yourself to escape their hellish world.

For campaign mode, this is undoubtedly the best shooter around, but lacks multiplayer which puts gears and halo 3 at the top. Gripping storyline, spectacular graphics, weapon upgrades, power- ups and clever AI make this a winner in my books! Unfortunatley as there is no multiplayer, it lacks longevity, so i would recommend renting and not buying, but it will probably be the most involving game you will play this year. steve

Wow another top notch 360 FPS. This isnt your run of the mill FPS, there is much more to it than running around blasting ten bales out of everything that moves. Its much more of a challenge than fact, indeed if you play on the harder difficulties as I am the game pushes you gameplaying skills. I cannot forget to mention that the graphics are awesome, and the level design has been well thought out. Weapons are good, as too are special abilities. I dont want to give too much away, apart from saying you have definately got to rent this one, and buy it if you like the genre.

Your review is rubbish --/\/Assasinator/\/-- this game is one of the best on the 360. The graphics are fantastic, playing with plasmids are cool, upgrading your guns is adictive and it is really fun to play so do yourself a favour --/\/Assasinator/\/-- and play the game

This right here is an excellent game, one of the better single player games' on the 360. Graphics are good, sound is awesome, the atmosphere is fantastic. There is no online play but it wouldn't be suited for this kind of game, a rental but a good rental.

good games, gets really tough when you finish a level but you need to collect Adam. still would highly recommend it.

This is probably the second best looking game on the 360. It comes very close to Gears of War on that front, and the extremely original storyline and setting perhaps eclipses Gears. A very long game in "Next Gen" terms, and it regularly has you thinking you've beaten it, only to open up another vast map. It can come close to repetative at times, but the upgrading of plasmids and such does enough to keep you entertained. Great game.

An excellent game, the atmosphere draws you right into the story and the combination of weapons and plasmids are excellent to dispatch the splicers and big daddy's with.

Rent Bioshock just so you can see what everyone's been talking about but I'd rate it as a 4 at best. The game'ss nowhere near as fresh and innovative as we were led to believe. It's not anywhere near as open as the demos and videos suggest and incentives to play through the game or go back to previous areas (which are little more than glorified 'levels') is minimal.

I'll be shouted at for saying that, as I can see from the majority of the reviews. Don't get me wrong, the game's very atmospheric and absorbing, but once you've played it for a few days it's hard to not begin to realise that there's not all that much to the game. It's far more linear than you'd expect.

I feel all I've done is bash Bioshock, which isn't fair. It's great for strategising, planning ahead for what biotic powers you'll need for what lays ahead, and it's interesting being forced to balance your moral engagement with the game, where you'll have to choose between your greed for gaining power and saving the innocent Little Sisters (small children that wonder around with their Big Daddy guardians).

So yeah, give it a try.
