Barnyard Description

Youthful party animals rejoice, your ideal game is here in the bovine shape and form of Barnyard, fresh off the back of the film of the same name. That movie's tagline was something along the lines of 'What goes on in the barn, stays in the barn'. Lucky for us gamers that that isn't strictly true, as Barnyard - The Game provides plenty of animal-centric fun and games with a cast of characters you can't fail to like. When the head of the farm is out of sight, the fun starts as the four-legged ones get up on their hind legs and begin to party like it's £39.99. Players assume the role of Otis the adolescent cow, who - very much like human adolescents - is causing his parents a great deal of concern. Otis' dad Ben is the patriarch of the barnyard and is grooming Otis to follow in his footsteps, or should that be hoofsteps? Anyway, there's a slight problem. Otis is a bit of a party animal and at times, as mad as a hatter. Ben is convinced that his son will be unable to change his crazy lifestyle and is desperately worried about the whole situation. The scenario is not helped by the fact that it is also coyote season and a pack of the beasts are trying their hardest to invade the farmyard. Helped by new cow on the block Daisy, Otis must grow up fast, help protect the barnyard and ultimately prove his father wrong. Barnyard is very different to other movie-inspired games. Instead of gamers having to wade their way through countless missions that simply re-tell the film's storyline, players must explore a fully interactive 3D world (including Walnut Woods, Dankweed Pond and of course the Barnyard itself) and attempt a broad selection of missions and mini-games. To be successful, gamers must form alliances with the other farmyard animals, such as Miles the Mule, Pip the Mouse, Etta the Hen and Freddy the Ferret. To save the day, you must also go on quests, join teams and participate in various sporting competitions. Suffice to say, after meeting the characters in Barnyard, you'll never feel like tipping a cow again!
