Tetris DS Description

Back in 1989, it seemed every man and his dog was playing a game called Tetris. The reason it was so popular was due to the fact the game could be played by anyone who could recognise colour and shape. Now Tetris DS is back for a whole new generation to play and enjoy. The game includes the much-loved famous falling block puzzle and various other new modes. There is also the choice to connect with up to three gamers from around the world via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. The DS's touch screen also opens up a whole new gaming experience for Tetris fans, as the screen is actually used to twist and turn the falling blocks. In Tetris DS, players can test their skills through any one of six different modes, each featuring a theme based on classic Nintendo games, such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong and Metroid. There is also classic Nintendo music from the aforementioned games for the older players amongst you to sit back and enjoy. The game's Standard Mode is an authentic recreation of the original Tetris, but with a difference - as the player completes lines, the computer plays through the original Super Mario Bros. game on the top screen. There is also a Donkey Kong theme that is added to Tetris with Push Mode, where gamers race to push their opponents off the screen by completing lines. Touch Mode makes use of the Nintendo DS touchscreen, with a Balloon Trip theme, as players drag towers of blocks around to make lines. The Yoshi-themed Puzzle Mode is definitely the most complicated, where players must clear 200 pre-programmed puzzles with a selection of blocks. Catch Mode is a space-based game with a Metroid theme, while Mission Mode gives players a series of Zelda-themed tasks to complete. So, if you, like us, love a bit of Nintendo nostalgia, and you're a bit of a blockhead too, Tetris DS should tumble gently into your affections.

Tetris for the DS is not really any different to any other version on any other console. Sure, a total of 6 different game modes does add some variety, but the main structure of the game lies in the tried and tested format that has proved so popular over the years. The only real 'difference' is that this game is online enabled which means that up to four players can battle it out over the internet for ultimate Tetris supremacy !

THIS GAME IS NOT ONLINE ENABLED - there is no online component to this game. The only four online enabled DS games are shown here: http://www.nintendowifi.co.uk/global/index.jsp?locale=en_GB

Tetris, nothing more, nothing less, however I didn't enjoy this version as much as the original and after playing it for a few minutes I remembered that I have played it to dead in previous incarnations therefore gave up.
