Torino 2006 is the Official Video Game of the XX Olympic Winter Games developed through a unique partnership between 2K Games (of Amped fame) with International Sports Multimedia (ISM) the exclusive licensee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for interactive entertainment software. The game features eight winter sports, 15 thrilling events, extraordinary winter landscapes and authentic commentator analysis. Torino 2006 gives gamers the chance to participate in one of the most exciting sporting events of the year. With a multiplayer mode for up to four players, gamers can compete head-to-head or in turn-based play that simulates the global stage of one of the most exciting sporting events in 2006.

I was hoping that this one would be would be something like International Track & Field for the PS1, a feast of player-on-player button bashing to see who was the greatest player on your street... but it's not. While it's fun seeing who is going to be the best player over the fifteen events, you never actually do much - for example, in the luge you just lean left and right to go round the corners. There's more interaction in a game of solitaire. Rent it for the weekend if you've got mates and you're all on the razzle, because it's a good competitive title, but it won't keep you amused longer than a couple of days... and don't bother with the single player game, it's crud.
