Tales of Eternia Description

Tales of Eternia was first released on the PlayStation in 2001. An action RPG, it became a popular anime series. Now it returns to feature on the PSP. Seen as a masterpiece by many, the Namco game will receive a warm welcome from both old aficionados and newcomers. The game begins when the peaceful lives of two friends are changed forever by a little girl who falls from the sky. Reid and Farah live together in a small town. They soon discover that the name of the mysterious newcomer is Meredy. She's not there for the good of her health, though. She is in fact trying to avert a huge cataclysmic disaster - it transpires that her world of Celestia is on a collision course with Reid and Farrah's home planet of Inferia. The trio quickly set about finding some way of averting disaster, but it's not going to be easy. Playing the game is made easier for the PSP owner, though, with the announcement that Namco have totally eradicated loading times - an irritant that has blighted the first generation of PSP titles. Of course, this is a PSone game, so you would hope so, The mostly sprite-based graphics have changed little since they debuted on the grey flip-top box all those years ago, but it still looks fresh, and the anime style portions look as pleasing as ever. This game is all about an engrossing storyline, though - remember, the game spawned a TV series, not the other way around. Gameplay is as intriguing as ever. The game is in the 'action RPG' style. Players have direct control of only Reid in the melee, with the rest of the party controlled by the computer. But players have the choice of determining what the overall tactics of the NPCs will be, adding a tactical dimension to planning for combat. Probably the best RPG title available for the PSP in early 2006, especially for those who didn't play the game first time around.
