Star Wars Bounty Hunter Description

It seems that the LucasArts/Activision partnership is playing fair to both the Nintendo and Sony camps with its Star Wars franchise release strategy. Bounty Hunter was released for the PS2 back in December 2002 but having said that, the GameCube was the first machine to see this week's [PS2] Clone Wars at around the same time. So it seems everyone's happy. Inspired by events that take place between Episode I and II, Star Wars Bounty Hunter is an original, third-person action game, which centres on Jango Fett (father of everyone's favourite character, Boba). The story involved establishes Jango's place in the Star Wars Galaxy and also his connection to the notorious clone army. Drawing players into the protagonist's sinister and seedy world, the game sees him venture into the dark side of the Star Wars universe to track down the elusive leader of a mysterious and deadly cult. Gameplay focuses on combat and physical action as our hunter pursues his bounty across six worlds and 18 levels. A barrage of crime lords, corrupt politicians and other enemies of various species must be overcome along the way - a task made a little easier by an arsenal of powerful weapons. The likes of dual pistols, flame throwers, missiles, and that famous jetpack are all at the player's disposal, making for some explosive scenes. Bounty Hunter provides an ideal opportunity for Fett fans to strap on that oh-so-cool outfit and experience the adventures of one of the universe's most popular anti-heroes. And we all used to dream of that as kids, did we not?

Star Wars video games have always been popular but had a reputation for far too often being low quality. That has changed recently with some better Star Wars titles (especially the 'battlefront' games) being released. Unfortunately though, this is not one of them. Good side of the game? Well, it's a Star Wars game isn't it. Chances are if you've chosen to rent this you'll be a Star Wars fan, and will no doubt get that tingle of excitement when you hear the famous music, and love the idea of being able to control Jango Fett. You also have an array of different weapons and gadgets to use, of which, the jetpack will be most people's favourite. Bad side of the game? The graphics are no more than perfunctory, as is the ingame sound. The player movement is jerky and controls over sensitive (jumping is an especially random and frustrating affair). There's little more to the game than shoot, shoot, shoot. This is a great idea for a game but a lot more effort needs to have been spent on the actual game play by the developers. If you are a big Star Wars fan, chances are you'll get at least some pleasure from playing this game, if only for a short while. Anyone else should probably steer clear of Star Wars Bounty Hunter though.
