Wario World Description

Wario, the speech-impeded, grunting, bestial nemesis of Mario, comes shoulder-barging his way back into view, this time on the GameCube, following several successful and much-loved handheld outings. Co-developed between Nintendo and the legendary Treasure, Wario World is a game that makes you smile for all kinds of reasons. Initially, Wario himself pleases greatly. Fatter, ruder, dirty and more evil than Mario, Wario is the embodiment of all the dark yet fun things we'd all like to get up to. A character so entrenched in suggestion, one dreads to think what he gets up to when no-one is looking. Wario World follows the formula that has seen Wario leap from support cast outsider to the anti-hero status of his own series: power-up rich gameplay in a frenetic, gaudy platform-driven game world. A bizarre storyline sees Wario have his prized collection of stolen valuables turned into a parallel universe, with each trinket morphed into a monster. Not at all happy about his ill gotten gains running around attacking him, Wario enters this fourth dimension intending to redress the balance and regain what was wrongfully his. The motion of the camera in Wario World is unique, with an on-rails motion overseeing a 3D game world. Although this is restrictive upon first play, further endeavours make for rich rewards. With the element of ropey camerawork removed (something that has plagued Mario's first GameCube offering) you are free to enjoy the game engine and level design as the developers intended it to be viewed. The blissfully simple key to the gameplay lies within Wario's violent interaction with his immediate surroundings. An almost limitless number of objects can be thrown, smashed and mangled to achieve a vast array of results, from enabling Wario to reach hitherto insurmountable places, to depositing objects needed for his continuation through the game. In short, Wario World is a wonderful game and imparts upon the player similar feelings to those experienced when playing classics such as Mario World and Yoshi's Island. Genuine gameplay, made by people who understand what is required from a modern videogame equals satisfied smiles all round.

Typical Nintendo fare. If you like the Super Mario series of games then chances are you'll enjoy this. Although it's not in the same league as Super Mario Sunshine, it's still good fun to play.
Features
  • Experience extremely fast-paced game play, making for a rolling good time, as Wario puts up his dukes to battle a seemingly endless tide of weird and wild enemies.

  • Help Wario brawl his way through huge areas, as he tries to reclaim his treasure. He'll have to defeat big bosses and save innocent creatures that are scattered throughout the worlds as well.

  • Use all kinds of over-the-top wrestling-style moves at Wario's disposal.

  • Laugh with Wario as he takes damage in comical ways, becoming flat as a board or catching on fire.
