Road Kill Description

Over the past decade, the video games industry has changed no end. With the help of PlayStation, 'adult' games were soon brought into the mainstream. Grand Theft Auto, State of Emergency and Carmageddon are among the most controversial, but now there's a new entry from Midway, aptly named RoadKill, for PlayStation 2. Something of a driving-based, free-roaming shooter, Roadkill pits players in a post-apocalyptic Earth where you must outwit and outgun myriad clan encampments and build alliances to survive. Complete with car, driver and gunner, players are charged with a series of missions that must be successfully completed in order to bring down a sinister force called New Canaan. An arsenal of weapons is available to players, including flame throwers, grenade launchers and machine guns, as well as a selection of 24 cars. Ready to wreak havoc, players are free to run down civilians or frag them in what is a truly brutal game that has truly earned its 18+ age rating. RoadKill is indeed a simple excuse for carnage, but the addition of a multi-player option makes for some great gaming. With two players, RoadKill allows drivers and gunners alike to either play co-operatively or go head-to-head in some truly frenetic gaming. Co-operative gameplay is perhaps the most appealing, whereby one player is charged with the driving and the other is responsible for shooting. This is an aspect of multi-player gaming that, although still under-developed, is becoming more common with every year that passes. Visually, RoadKill looks typical of any third-generation PS2 release, boasting solid environments, reasonable textures and a respectable level of realism. It's nothing outstanding, but as a game it performs well. And combined with a high level of controversy, it'll no doubt be popular with many mainstream PlayStation owners.
