Halo 3: ODST (Xbox 360) Description

Orbital Drop Shock Trooper... there, now you know what the ODST actually means. These are the shock-troops, the hardcore, the 'Helljumpers' of the UNSC forces. The next game in the unbelievably successful Halo series, ODST sees you playing one of them in the form 'the Rookie' as you do first-person battle in the town of New Mombassa. Don't expect to see Halo 3 references galore though, as ODST is set two weeks before that campaign kicked off. Also, expect challenges and the fact that you are going to have to concentrate in order to beat them... you're a rookie after all. This means that you've got none of the Master Chief-like skills that you may have come to know and love. You get to team up Buck, Dutch, Romeo, Mickey and the one female team member, Dare, who is also an ONI agent. Being a rookie, however, you get lost and have to find your teammates. This makes up the engrossing single-player campaign and is more than enough bang for your buck. But the beauty and power of Halo has always lay in its multiplayer. In ODST you get the same great game-play as Halo 3 but with 24 maps including the original Halo , plus the Heroic, Legendary, "Cold Storage", Mythic maps and packs topped off with three new ones: Citadel, Heretic, Longshore. Not enough? Well, there is also a mode known as Firefight where you have no time limit but you do have to counter wave after wave of enemies. Basically, it's Halo 3, with more challenges, more to learn, a different plot, the same superb multi-player and even more to explore. An Xbox 360 must-have.

A nice addition to the Halo Series, giving you an different perspective of the game. Instead of playing as Master Chief, you are an ODST soldier within a group that gets seperated. You play as different ODST's throughout the story, trying to re-unite with your squad and unravelling the 'mystery'. I would recommend playing some of the other Halo games before this to get used to the game and have some brief knowledge of the game, but overall a good game that had me hooked for the campaign (although it was fairly short), and snippets of multiplayer that I tried was fun as well. Definately worth a rent, if not a full purchase - Considering you get all of the Halo 3 map packs included with the two discs it comes with.

If you have not played any of the Halo games then this is not your best introduction to the franchise. But with that said it is a very enjoyable twist on the already over used Halo Franchise, that along with the multi player 2nd disc makes this a great addition to anyone’s collection. I found it a bit easy in fact I played it straight of the bat on Legendary and finished it pretty fast, but with the audio tapes and the secret it unlocked near the end of the game was well worth the replay value. I also loved that half the voice cast was taken from fire fly and that you got to play as each character to get the full story of what happened after the drop. This game has a very detective / shoot em up feel to it and is a lot of fun with some friends when you decide to do fire fight (horde but for Halo). But If you have never played a Halo game get Halo 3 first and then get this. But don’t waste any money on the multi player maps as they all come free with ODST. It’s just the style of game play that is different but well worth it. My verdict is rent Halo 3 and then get ODST for the multi player maps and some fun game play. Anyway hope the review helped

Well i am a Huge Halo fan i loved the game ever since i got it on the PC, and the Xbox i loved it nice story action was brill and i new the story would carry on i then later got Halo 2 for the Xbox 1 also and loved playing itching for Halo 3 witch i bought on the 360 played it to death then i bought Halo wars and played that loved the Mutiplayer battles i was dissapointed that you could not play as the Flood in a skirmish but over all cool, i then rented ODST Hmm graphics are better shaper images and much nicer looking but then i started to play wandering around a city that basicly looks the same and easy to get lost, just as well i have a marker compas but then i started seeing other things the wepons well nothing new aprt from the pistol which i can use all throught the game great for head shots and this pulse rifle rip off that cant do crap, My face the needler and the sniper rifle but i was expecting to see somthing new but sadly not, i completed the game on normal.. normal u say what a SAP i know but i was useing the game to find all the nooks and crannys for Achivements was ok did the game in 4hrs takeing away coffee and loo breaks was an ok story line i also exspected more with the new alien liked it but where does it come from, so i thought the AI Aliens were dumb in normal so when it was done i gone all out for Heroic and all i have noticed the shots are more powerfull and the creatures AI still suck, not to mention that soilders that fight and ride in the jeep with you or on the tank, u scream at them to shoot at enermys and they just stare at them i think i spent more time shouting at the Dumb Ass soilders than i did anything eles, Micrsoft really screwed the pooch with this game, game designers are getting tired boring showing no imaganation or simply Bill Gate are not paying them enough to think for them selves as this game well and truly sucks ass through a straw wtf are they playing at, give me a job Microsoft and ill give you a game that is worth the cash £40 plus and i promice even the most fantastic gamer will take 4 months or more to complete. I am very dissapointed.,,,, i could cry..

This is the latest game in the Halo FPS franchise. I have played all the halo games (except Halo Wars, just didn't think it looked a good enough RTS) and so I was looking forward to this game. Immediately I was pleasantly surprised by the way it also has the multiplayer Map Packs from Halo 3. I went straight into the campaign. In this game your main character is "Rookie" (no more god-like Master Chief. You are only human. If you try to play like the Master Chief you will probably end up dead) who is a newcomer to the ODST squad and is just about to be launched into the Covenant controlled city of New Mombassa. But "oh no!" the Covenant ship goes into slipspace (a sort of "hyper space") and the resulting shockwave sends you crashing down to Earth. If you played Halo 2 you will remember this moment when you chased the ship through to a Halo ring. Separated from your squad you are free to roam the Covenant-controlled mega city of New Mombassa and try to find your squad mates. You will be introduced to the game's "night vision" which basically throws everything into high contrast. In ODST you will be thrown into a darker Halo universe and you will feel quite alone at times. Earth sometimes seems quite dark, alien and depressing. You will encounter items left behind by your old team and you will be teleported back in time to complete the real actual missions in the game. You will play through the eyes of that squad mate. For the most part these missions are fun to play and also include a few vehicle missions. From the old games several pieces of nostalgia make their way back into the game in the form of Warthogs, Ghosts, Banshees, the amazing Scorpion tank and the now even more deadly Wraith (it now seems to fire its mortar faster and, on higher difficulties, these will kill you if they land anywhere near you). The SMG is now scoped and silenced (not online) which is cool and good to use. The brute plasma rifle makes a comeback (basically a red ordinary plasma rifle.) Most of the old enemies and friends like Grunts, Brutes and Hunters all make a return. There are no Elites or (thank god!) Flood in this game. It should be noted that you do not seem to be able to "dual wield" weapons in this game. Instead of the traditional run and gun approach you will now need to use stealth, cover and a little bit of intelligence to defeat your opponents. The story is good and the tried and tested multiplayer is also excellent (the new firefight mode is especially good as it lets you play online with friends against an unrelenting horde of enemies in some of the campaign's memorable battles). However, this game does seem quite short with only 7-8 hours of gameplay but that's OK as it isn't full price. Oh wait, it is. Wow, what a rip for basically an expansion pack.
