Returns Policy and Warranty

The following are guidelines for all goods ordered for delivery.

Wherever possible we will respond to your individual circumstances.

SwapGame offers a twelve [12] month warranty on all games software. The SwapGame twelve [12] month warranty only covers software faults arising in the course of normal use. Customers must notify us of a product fault via our online ticket system within 8 [eight] days after delivery. Notification received outside of the 8 [eight] day period will void this Warranty.

Defective merchandise will be fully tested to verify the fault. Should an item not be found to be defective it will be dispatched back to you, however should an item be found to be defective we will first seek to repair the item; if no repair can be made, we will seek a replacement item. If no replacement can be issued, a refund will be given. Repairs can take up to 28 working days.

To qualify for a refund or exchange the product must be:

  • in otherwise 'as new' condition;
  • complete with any accessories and free gifts offered with it; and
  • if possible, with the original box and packaging.

All items sent to SwapGame for refund or return, are made pursuant to a shipment contract. Prior to SwapGame receiving such items the risk of loss and title for such items remains with the customer. This means that the risk of loss and title for such items passes to us upon delivery from the carrier. As such, SwapGame recommends that when sending items for return or refund you use an insured and/or traceable method of transit, such as Royal Mail Special Delivery or Recorded Delivery.

You should return the products in accordance with the above procedure.

This warranty does not cover faults caused by accident, neglect and misuse, nor does it cover damage to or deterioration of the products resulting from normal wear and tear.

Important: This returns policy does not affect your statutory rights. Details of your statutory rights are available from the Citizens Advice Bureau or Consumer Direct.

Acceptable Condition Guidelines

Please make sure that your games adhere to our acceptable condition guidelines set out below. This will ensure you are credited for your trade-ins and there is no delay in processing your order.

If the games you submit for trade in do not meet the criteria given below we will unfortunately be unable to accept the item and you will receive no credit for the item. We will also not return any rejected games and your disc will be recycled free of charge.

We can only currently accept trade in orders from the UK.

  • All games discs must be in good condition and in full working order.
  • The disc(s) must be in the case and it must be the correct disc(s) for the case.
  • All the original packaging must be present, including the games manual.
  • The disc must NOT be a copy or a pirate disc – we take this matter very seriously and reserve the right to take further action on this matter.
  • The disc must NOT be cracked or have dents, deep scratches or other serious damage to it – light surface scratches are usually accepted.
  • The packaging and cases must be in good condition. Cases may have light scratches but games manuals must be free from stickers, tears and other blemishes.
  • We will charge 50p per Game if the disc requires cleaning as a refurbishment fee, and 25p per Game if the case is broken.
  • We can only accept UK PAL video games.

Remember you must always include: The games disc, games manual, original games box.

Please remember that the games you trade in are offered to others to play so please only trade in games you would be happy to accept yourself.

Posting us your games

When you have completed your order at checkout, a packing slip and postage label will be displayed for you to print off.

Enclose the packing slip and game(s) in your package, attach the free 1st class postage label and send it off to us.

Getting Paid

When we receive your games, we check them to make sure they are in acceptable condition.


If accepted, the trade-in value is credited to your account. You can use your credit to buy new or used games with us or you can choose to withdraw it from your account as a cash payment.

If you made any purchases at the same time as trading in, these will be dispatched when your trade-ins have been processed.

What else can I do?
  1. You can buy new games at the same time as trading in. The credit you receive for your trade-ins lowers the price you need to pay for your new games.

  2. You can trade in as many games as you want at once. Simply add each trade-in to your basket and when you are ready, check out.

  3. You can monitor the complete trading in process using 'My Trade-Ins' in your account.

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to trade-in your unwanted games so we pay your postage.

When you checkout your trade-in games we will provide you with a free postage label. Simply stick this to the centre of your parcel and send us your games.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept responsibility for non-delivery of games and therefore recommend that you choose a posting option which best safeguards your game(s) from loss or damage in transit.

*Estimated time of delivery is based on an uninterrupted service provided by the Royal Mail and is subject to delay in busy periods such as Christmas.


Terms and Conditions

Valuations

  • The value you were offered through the website at the time of use is the amount you will be credited if the Games received meet our terms and conditions and we accept your trade in order.
  • Games sent to us must play perfectly, with no obvious signs of damage. In the event of a disc being sent to us that requires cleaning or refurbishment, or a games case not being structurally sound, we reserve the right to charge a 50p refurbishment fee and a 25p replacement case fee. If this is not possible the disc will be recycled free of charge.
  • All Games sent in must include the cases, original covers and games manuals, and all pertinent discs. Where these are not included SwapGame will recycle the disc free of charge and no credit will be awarded to the customer. This decision is at the company's sole discretion.
  • Property in the discs submitted for trade-in will pass to Swapgame at the time of receipt of the discs, after which time Swapgame will be free to deal with the discs as it sees fit.

Credits to Customers Accounts

  • On accepting your trade-in order you will be notified by email and the credit will be applied to your SwapGame account.
  • Credits are only confirmed once your trade-in order has been accepted and processed by SwapGame.
  • All credits to a customer's account can be redeemed against new purchase orders at www.swapgame.com. Alternatively credits can be withdrawn from your SwapGame Account as a cash payment.
  • Credit values for trade-in games offered on the website will change from time to time. If you trade in a disc we will offer the credit value shown at the time and date of trade.
  • All valuations include VAT at 17.5%.

Rejected Trade-In Orders

  • Games which do not meet our Acceptable Guidelines will be rejected. If a trade-in is rejected you will be notified by email.
  • No credit will be awarded to the customer's account for any trade-in game which is rejected.
  • Rejected games will not be returned to the customer and SwapGame will recycle the rejected games free of charge. Rejected games cannot be returned to the customer under any circumstances, and the company will not enter into any correspondence regarding this matter.

Associated Purchase Orders

  • You may opt to place a new purchase order at the same time as a trade-in order on the website.
  • If you place an associated purchase order with SwapGame at the same time as a trade-in order, the purchase order will be dispatched once all items in your trade-in order have been processed.
  • On completion of your trade-in order your account will be credited for all accepted trade in items and the total credit amount will be applied to your order value.
  • The amount charged to you for your purchase order will be determined by the total credit awarded to your account for accepted trade-in games.

Postal damage and loss

  • SwapGame does not take any responsibility for the loss or damage to discs before receipt at our warehouse.
  • We strongly recommend that all our customers pack their discs using suitable packaging to minimise the risk of damage. SwapGame provides a free 1st class postage label to the customer. Additional postage cover is available from the Royal Mail at the customer's discretion. We recommend all customers obtain a proof of postage. If your disc is lost in the post we advise you on the best way to make a claim against the Royal Mail but we cannot guarantee that this will be successful, nor do we take any responsibility for the non delivery. Please see our trade in faqs above for more detail on this.
  • Please note it is very important to pack all your items in one parcel (or as few parcels as possible for large sales) so we can process your order and credit your account as quickly as possible.
